8.I was wondering why The City of Coweta will not fix the dirt roads. They are Horrible!!!  They keep putting gravel down but it just gets washed away with the rain.  So could you find out what the hold up is on getting some better roads. Thanks (03-00)

7. Looking for information on Joe Choate.  I was told he was killed in an auto accident late 80's.  He would have been about 20. (03-00)

(A) I used to live across the road from his family, and if memory serves he was around the age you mentioned, and yes died while operating a motorcycle.

6. I am an out of state parent with joint custody of my daughter that attends your school (Coweta). I have asked several times in person and over the phone if I could receive my daughters report cards and progress reports. They tell me Yes but, I haven't seen one yet. Could you please find out what the process is and let me know. (02-00)

(A) I would suggest talking to your daughter's teacher, instead of someone who answers the phone. If she is in junior high or high school, find out which teacher is responsible for giving her report card and ask them to please make it a point to send you a copy. You might call and remind them around report card time. It gets pretty hectic at school around that time! (03-00)

(A) I would recommend speaking with the child's teacher. The office personnel are very busy with many things. They, unlike most other districts, are not only responsible for the normal paper work, but are forced to practice as nurses handing out all medications needed by students. (11-2001)

5. I heard Coweta Schools were getting out later than the projected date of May 24, 2000. Is this true and if so, what is the new date for the last day of school?(02-00)

(A) According to page 15 of the book "A Look At Wagoner County", published in 1980 by the Wagoner Co. Historical Society, Coweta was actually  spelled Koweta and meant "peaceful settlement". According to Martha Sewell's account, titled "Kowetah" available at the Coweta Library, the name came from "the Lower Creek war town of Coweta, located in what is now the state of Georgia". (03-00)

3. I have Microsoft Internet Explorer 5, and I was wondering how I can enable java chats? I go to Internet Options, Security, Custom Level, and then it says my java scripting is enabled, although I cannot go into Java chat rooms. Could you please tell me how I can enable java chats? Thanks (02-00)

(A) The Coweta Newspaper is not on the internet. I have call Coweta Newspaper office  and ask them if they wanted to post stories on Cowetaok.com but they said no.
