Termite Control

Be on the lookout for termites. How can you tell if you have termites or ants?

Termites thrive in dark, moist conditions, preferable soil. On average, they leave their protective environment about once a year-a reproductive process called "swarming." Swarming ants have pinched waists/restricted waists and 3 body segments. A swarming termite has a body that appears to be 1 segment and sheds it's wings shortly after emerging. These termites have two pairs of wings approximately equal in length and look to be clear or a smoky black. You may find the shed wings near the area the termites were swarming.

Each year, termites cause over $1 billion in damage to homes in the U.S. alone. The best defense you have in stopping termites from destroying your home is an effective  termite  treatment applied to by a trained professional.

Make sure you call Woodco Pest Control to schedule a termite inspection. Termites cause wood damage and need to be treated.

New Pest On The Scene

Bedbugs are making a comeback

This blood feeding insect has been showing up more and more recently. Bedbugs are associated with filthy living conditions, but that is not the case. Increased tourism from overseas areas has brought the pest back. It's been 50 years since this was a pest in the USA. Since wide use of pesticides are no longer used, it has given this pest an opportunity to make a return.

When a person is bitten, there is no itch sensation. Only after repeated bites does a person feel mosquito-like welts.

Signs of infestation are:

• Small reddish brown stains on bedding
• Stains on ceiling at wall edges
• A sweet odor
